Okay, So now that I've decided that I want to take the plunge, (believe me, I'm still scared) I want to know what kind of school school should I go for.  I have have years pondered the question of which would be better.  I have seen the many places that offer the online classes that seem like would be easy enough where I can work at my own pace and still be able to stay at home with my kids.  Then there is the classroom option, where there is an actual teacher and someone to ask questions when I'm in need of a little extra help.

What do you think?  Which route did you take and what did you like and dislike about you choice?

Kay,

I highly suggest you take the classes in person. Before going to class, I would have taken them online if SC had them. It is a huge time commitment and an aggravation to get those sitters lined up, but it is worth it and from now on I will take classes in person every time.

I learned so much that was not in the written material. My instructor gave us great tips about actually practicing real estate. I met some great people that may be good contacts down the road. There are so many intangibles when you go to class.

Talk to some brokers and see what school they recommend in Augusta. You want to find a school that has instructors that actually practice real estate and do not just read from the book. Also try to talk to others that have attended the schools you are looking at.

Good luck!

Hi Kay,

I have actually done both as I have been licensed in 2 states. The benefit to the online was that I was able to minimize time away from my kids and go at a much faster pace. I worked really hard during nap time, early in the morning and late into the night to get through the coursework.

By going into the classroom I was able to ask practical questions and hear about real life experiences. I also made contacts with the other students who I ahve stayed in touch with.

Good luck with ever way you decide to go!

Yvonne

I say you have to start somewhere, so go for it! Do what ever you feel most comfy with, however you get your education is up to you. This may help you get where you need to be faster, I graduated from an on-line program after attending a local university, this was best for me and it might work for you!

You just have to stay focused, I have children and was in the Army, I finished scholl in a total of 5 years and kids! You can do it too!

Have a great week

Kay, it is all about your discipline level.  I preferred the classroom environment because you can gain the knowledge of the instructors and the other classmates.  No matter which route you choose, be ready to commit to see it through.

Kiri, Yvonne, Lexi, & Latonia - Thanks for all of your opinions and input.  It seems that the most benefit comes from classroom.  I love the idea that you can get more interaction if you take classroom instruction.  I guess I just have to sit down and write down the pros and cons of which situation is going to be best for me and my family.

Kay,  I agree with Latonia.  It is about discipline.  I took an online course myself as I like to concentrate and take my time in learning.  But there is a huge advantage in taking a classroom course because you will have the instructor and you future classmates to support you.  Whatever works for you, I'm sure you will do well.  Good luck!

Tina - I'd love if there was a way to have the advantage of both.  Maybe have classes at my house so that I can do it from home with the benefit of classroom discussions.  In a perfect world, huh?  LOL!

I love being in a class where you can interact with the teacher and other students.

I do mine online. With 8 kids, it makes it easier on me.

The classroom was helpful because the instructor gave great tips about how to pass the exams the first time.  They have accelerated formats.  I did it all day, every day for 2 weeks.  I liked it that way even though it was hectic.  Good luck either way.

Vicki - 8 kids and you made it?  what an accomplishment and an inspiration.  I only have 3 and I'm overwhelmed.

Cheri & Stacey - I think classroom has more educational benefits, but I'm stuggling with the family part, I guess.
