WHAT'S COMING SOON TO CHARLOTTE
Three new businesses are coming to Charlotte in the coming weeks and months adding to the excitement of a "more normal" post-pandemic life-style... a selfie museum, a Jewish deli, and the first Golden Goose store in North Carolina.
DREAM Selfie Museum
Have you heard of selfie museums? Do you know what a selfie museum is? As someone who has never actually taken a selfie anywhere... this was a new concept for me. So I've just learned that a selfie museum is a type of art gallery whose purpose is to provide a setting for visitors to pose for photographs to be posted on social media sites, such as Instagram. Selfie museums include colorful backdrops, oversize props, and optical illusions.
And now... opening in Charlotte on June 16th is DREAM Selfie, offering 15 interactive backdrop for photos and videos. This pop-up selfie museum will be open through August. Charlotte's DREAM Selfie Museum is the brain child of a husband and wife team, Jeff and Madeline Carothers, who (like me) had never themselves been to a selfie museum. While this is slated to be a pop-up museum through August, they will decide at end of summer if they make it a more permanent fixture in Charlotte's "art scene."
You can can book reservations at DREAM Selfie online in 90-minute blocks for $19 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and $25 Fridays through Sundays. Both private and semi-private photoshoots are available, as well.
Location of DREAM Selfie Museum: 4212 Raleigh Street, close to the Sugar Creek station for the LYNX Blue Line.
If you love taking selfies, a visit to DREAM Selfie Museum this summer is a must!
Meshugganah's The Shop: A Jewish Deli
If you're from New York City like me, you know there's something extra special about a Jewish deli. In fact, when people ask me what I miss most about New York City, one of the first things I mention is good bagels and a good Jewish deli where I can get great pastrami, black and white cookies, chocolate babka.
Meshugganah, a Jewish pop-up deli in Charlotte that started operations in north Charlotte in 2020, has just signed a lease for its very first "brick and mortar" store at 1108 North Graham Street. The new deli is expecing to open in the fall.
The Shop will feature a kitchen, seating for dining, and catering services. While some of the menu will "rotate" with specials, items you expect to find at a Jewish deli, like such as sandwiches, matzo ball soup, knishes, blintzes, babka, baked goods, and meat by the pound will be available daily. If you love comfort food... you'll find it at The Shop.
Golden Goose Opening Its First North Carolina Store
Italian retailer, Golden Goose, is opening a 2,000 square foot shop in Charlotte's luxury SouthPark Mall. Opening is planned for June next door to the Neiman Marcus and Tory Burch stores. Golden Goose is known for its hand-made, distressed-aesthetic shoes, but also includes ready-to-wear and accessories, in addition to its footwear.
