I'm always interested in different things going on around my hometown of Clearwater,Florida  - You may not know that we have an extensive Parks and Recreation department and the County also offers so much too - recently this upcoming event  caught my eye - with 1 son in Cub Scouts and one on the way I thought..."Who knew you really could eat the Plants outside" - I just thought that was something my boys did(LOL). So if you're in the mood to try something REALLY different for Dinner.... Prepare to Experience the Native side of Florida....

What are you doing April 4that 7pm? You might want to check out the The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. They will be holding their membership meeting that evening at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, located at 2750 Park Trail Lane in Clearwater. (Membership is reasonable at $25 a year and helps supports their cause of promoting the preservation, conservation, and restoration of the native plants and native plant communities of Florida.)

Dr. Anna Dixon will  be the guest speaker and will give a "hand's on program" called "The Real Dining Out Guide to Florida" featuring   native "WILD EDIBLES" ~ many of which can be found  here. They utilize the classic guide Edible Wild Plants of North America which lists hundreds of tasty native plants ~ find out how to prepare them, even taste a few... it gives a whole new meaning to "Dining Out". What do you think? Are you game to give it a try?

For more information about this or any of their other events and activities visit their website at  http://www.fnps.org/. It's also a great resource for information regarding Florida Native Plants, Gardening and more.

When we help people relocate to Florida, after they find their dream home on http://www.searchclearwaterproperties.com// they are always interested in learning how to maintain their dream yard with our on-going  Water Restrictions. Luckily in many neighborhoods the city has already invested in installing reclaimed water which has been a great asset- several more neighborhoods like Morningside, the Meadows and Grovewood in Clearwater are slated for getting reclaimed water soon.

Hi there Jack and Cyndee...Thanks for the info on the Plant Society. We have so many great places to enjoy. I also noticed some under contract signs have picked up for you, great job. Being big into boating, have you thought about promoting Clearwater Boating! That is such a big part of why people buy Clearwater Real Estate. Just a thought. Thanks again...Stu!

Wow - who knew edible plants in and around clearwater beach. Don't think my husband would go for that - strictly meat and potatoes.
