Observations about Social Media Engagement by Endre Barath, Jr. a Beverly Hills real estate agent
We all want to engage with people on social media platforms, not just ActiveRain. Otherwise, why be on a social media platform? It’s a great way to connect with like-minded individuals as we share ideas and experiences that can even broaden our thoughts and teach us some tips and wisdom. Used to be if you interact and support other’s posts, you will share in the reciprocity. Now that seems to be the “old school” philosophy, as engagements become more, rather than less, challenging.
You may ask why this is. Well, I saw a rather bothersome statistic the other day stating that less than 20% of your posts are actually being seen by your friends and followers. As Active Rain and other social media platforms tweak the ‘look & feel’ of their platforms, it is harder to see what your friends and followers are posting and vice versa. And if your friends and followers are having a difficult time finding you, how will your target audience find you?
One of the best things with the Active Rain platform has always been, at least for me, the relationships we have formed over the years by interacting with other members. Nowadays, when we do not hear from those in our circle, we have their private emails as well as their phone numbers so we can reach out to them directly to at least make sure they are ok or that we did not offend or alienate them in some way. However, this is not the case on the World Wide Web. We do not have the ability to privately reach out to those with whom we want to engage.
What do you suppose would be the best way to overcome this hurdle? There used to be the idea of “long tail” “short tail” “buzz” words you sprinkle in your posts and the search engines would help push your post out for all to see. Is that still valid? I am not so sure. I still try to get the word out this way, with buzz phrases like greater Los Angeles real estate agent, Relocation Specialist, Landman, and multi-cultural realtor representing buyers and sellers in Los Angeles from around the globe. I also syndicate my posts on Linked In, Facebook and other social media platforms.
Some of my most satisfied clients hail from Europe, Asia, the Pacific Rim; Germany, Hungary, Italy, the UK, France; and the Middle East - Israel, Iran, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. I would be remiss if I did not include my clients from Australia, Japan, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines. What do all of these clients have in common other than having Endre Barath, Jr. as their Realtor? You guessed, it - they all found me on the Internet/World Wide Web or were referred to me by people that I interreacted with either face-to-face or on the Internet/World Wide Web during the span of my real estate career.
A large percentage of my client base comes from local referrals too, particularly agents who refer me land buyers and sellers. Numerous agents do not want to have anything to do with land as it is a niche market that comes with its own unique set of challenges. I have also received a handful of referrals from Active Rain members who know me as the straight-talking, pet-loving, gourmet food-and-wine loving Realtor.
I have been very successful in my role as a Beverly Hills Realtor, and much of my success is thanks to Internet technology that has helped enhance my client service. Nevertheless, let’s not forget that everyone has these same tools available literally at their fingertips. Hence, I also attribute some of my success to my straightforward style, eating and sleeping real estate, and being responsive to potential inquiries. And let us not forget my charming personality!😀
