Ok all......

I got really good advice from the last blog on "To Stag or Not to Stag".
I do believe the "To" stagers won.
Now the next million dollar question is "Do I hire a stager or do it myself".  I really "think" I have the ability to do some of the light staging that I was advised would be helpful for my listings.  I'm positive the major staging should be left to the pros.  Can I challenge anyone to attempt to tutor me on this subject....Or better yet, if you're in my area give me a call... I have a couple of job$ for YOU.

Hi Chidale - Speaking as a stager, of course I would say hire me. (too bad i'm in NY)!  Seriously, as a realtor, you are in homes all the time and I'm sure you have great ideas about what a home should look like, etc.  However, by hiring a stager, you will get a professional who is only concerned with the finer details of preparing a house for sale.  A realtor has to walk a fine line with a home seller and can not approach some sensitive issues without offending (odors, tacky collectibles, ugly wallpaper, etc.)  A stager can take care of all this for you, so you don't have to be the bad guy.  This way you can maintain a good, positive rapport with your client.  Also, by not having to stage yourself, you can focus solely on the sale end.  Lastly, by working with a stager, the result would be getting your deals closed faster so you can get your money and move on to your next client!

If you do not work with a stager now, maybe you should look up some in your area.  You could interview a few and check out their portfolios.

Chidale - Yeah, We won!  I hope I get to do that more often!

Seriously, I work with an agent who has her ASP certification.  She is fairly confident in knowing what needs to be done and applies that to the "easier" homes, but when she feels as though it is over her head, she calls me- whether it be a major wreck, a vacant, or she just doesn't know how to convince them that  one major faux pas needs to be addressed (it's that fine line thing).  It has really done a great thing for her business and she is getting to the point where she may not even do the simpler one, just for time's sake.

Some can do it all, but staging is a lot of work and you have to decide how much you want to do.

I wrote a blog on how to find a stager - hope it helps!
