HELP EMPTY CHARLOTTE'S SHELTERS
Through Sunday, July 11th it's the summer Empty the Shelters event sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation. Empty the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption initiative whose purpose is to help reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, spay and neuter programs, microchipping, and emergency support.
To-date, Bissell Pet Foundation's effort have resulted in almost 54,000 adopted pets in 45 states and Canada. This summer there are some 186 participating shelters in 45 states offering reduced-fee adoptions of $25 or less.
Animal shelters typically become overcrowded in the summer months because of spring litters. The summer effort to empty the shelters is very important, as a result, to relieve the overcrowding.
