I just read this on the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles website and I thought I'd share.  All this means is that you can't wear any of those 'novelty' or military-style helmets without the thick inner lining.


MOTORCYCLE SAFETY HELMET LAW

Effective January 1, 2008 all operators and passengers on motorcycles and mopeds must wear a motorcycle safety helmet of a type that complies with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 218
