With the Fourth of July just around the corner, folks are planning where they will go to see fireworks. Fireworks

It is very hard to imagine celebrating the birth of our country without fireworks.

The colors, the sounds, the sparkle just send a thrill through me.  I wouldn't be surprised if you felt the same way.

What is even better than watching a firework display is watching it overfireworks over water the water.  Lake Anna has been celebrating July 4th with fireworks for a number of years now.  Boats come from up and down the lake to congregate close to where the show takes place.

In 1997 when I planned the 25th anniversary celebration (the first ever celebration) for Lake Anna I was lucky enough to find a neighbor, Richard Cooley, who had retired from Zambelli International which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA.  Richard was Director of Shows and he did a wonderful job for us.  It was the best community activity we ever had here at Lake Anna up to that point. More fireworks over water

This year our annual Fourth of July celebration will take place on Saturday, July 5th.  Richard Cooley continues to have bigger jobs elsewhere on the 4th and volunteers his time for ours usually the day before or the day after.  He is a tremendous neighbor.

If you will be near Lake Anna be sure to hitch a ride on a boat and get yourself situated near Dike 2 before sundown so you can join us for our July 4th (on the 5th). even more fireworks

Remember, wherever you are on July 4th be safe and remember those that are keeping us safe.

Hey Kate,

Fireworks are nice with moderation. I'm not a big fan of fireworks in general, but I do like to see them every few years. I will admit, I prefer it over water also.

As a kid I used to love the fireworks at Rockaway Beach in Queens, NY.  The kid in me still loves them.

Great pics.

All the best!

Kate, sounds like Lake Anna's got quite a show planned.  I always love fireworks on July 4th.  Especially since it's 2 days after my birthday -- I always thought the fireworks displays were just for me!

Fireworks are a lot of fun to watch. I am a happier observer than participant! I hope you have a safe and fun celebration!

Love this time of year.  A time to celebrate and give thanks and gratitude for our country and the troops protecting our country.  I grew up in Hamilton, New York, where they have a wonderful  block party the eve of July 4th then a grand parade down the middle of town.  It's an event I still get back to every couple years....wonderful place to grow up in.  thanks for your welcome.

I definitely like fireworks over the water.  I'm not much for heat, mosquitos and crowds, though.  Does anybody remember the St. Louis 4th of July several years ago when the temperature was only 60 degrees and cold????   That was very unusual...  :)

Kate, I love them! I'm just still afraid of them to some degree. As a child I would cry when the big booms would go off! I love the colorful ones though. I hope you have a terrific 4th of July!

I can live with or without them.  I won't go watch them.  Last year I layed a blanket on the floor, we ordered a pizza, and watched them from Boston via the TV.  Then we jetted over to D.C and saw their finale, then jetted over to NYC on watched their on DVR.  All the time sitting in comfort in the A/C and had access to the bathroom at anytime needed.  My daughter wants to have another picnic in the house this year.
