Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration in Reedville, VA

Uncle SamThe annual Reedville, VA, Independence Day Celebration will be fun for the entire family.  This celebration seems to get larger every year.  It is considered one of the largest Independence Day events in the Northern Neck. 

This year all the activities are scheduled for Sat., July 5, 2008.  This festive and full day kicks off with the Firecracker 5K run/walk at 8am.  Please click here for more information and to register for the race.joggers

                                          

Some of the scheduled events include a small boat show which will be held at the pier at the Reedville Fisherman's Museum.  Boats will be on display all day in the water and behind the boat building building.    An artist's arena crafts fair will be held from 10am to 4pm. 

 

Kids can assemble, decorate, and sail a boat to take home with them at the RFM Pavilion from 12N to 1:30.  This activity is best for children 8 years and under.  Kids can also enjoy face painting and tattoos and the pie eating contest at 1:00 pm.    

American FlagJoin in on the patriotic and folk song sing a-long at 2:00pm.  The grand parade down Main Street will be held at 3:00 pm.  There is sure to be antique cars, marching bands, all types of floats, kids on bicycles all decorated for the celebration, and you might even catch a glimpse of Uncle Sam strolling through the crowd.    

 

The day ends with a spectacular fireworks show at the end of Reedville at 9:00pm.  After the fireworks, dance the night away at the Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department Building on Main Street.  For more information on Reedville's Independence Day Celebration, click here.
