Your House is a System refers to how different parts of your house work with each other, not independently.
Have you ever thought that your home is a system? That one part of your home works with another part? Probably not.
Consider that your ducts convey cool or warm air to different parts of your home from an HVAC, air conditioning unit or furnace via ductwork. One works with the other!
However, if ducts are leaking air into an attic, wouldn’t it be wise to seal those leaks so the system worked better to produce more air or balance air in each room of a house?
What about an HVAC system? The older it is, the more energy it uses. Each year as an HVAC, air conditioner or furnace ages it becomes less efficient.
The HVAC (air conditioner or furnace) is one of the top three energy hogs in your home. The second is the refrigerator and the third item can oftentimes be a pool pump.
What other aspects of your home can you change to reduce your energy bills.
This is Part II in a series of posts about sustainability!
