Keep Your Focus on What Really Matters

Distractions are all around us these days. Mask, no mask, jab, no jab, white, black, Republican, Democrat, and on and on. Everywhere you turn there are squabbles, opinions, and fear tactics. No doubt all of this can add to an already high-stress level.

Now more than ever, it is so important to keep your focus on those things that really matter. If we are all going to make it through these times, it will be vital to keep your focus on those things that truly matter in life.

Here are some tips for the weary:

1. Get outside and just go for a walk. Allow your mind to focus on the sounds of birds, flowing water, or the rustling of the trees. Just allow your mind to rest on nature.

2. Journal your thoughts. As you do this, write about those things you are grateful for in your life. When you place the good in the forefront, the undesired thoughts take a back seat.

3. Take time to be with family and friends intentionally. Carve out those moments to play games, just to sit and visit, and have long, meaningful conversations.

4. Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, get plenty of rest, and make sure you are balancing your life well.

5. Finally, understand what are those things that completely get you off of your game and distract you. Identify the stressors and re-direct to what truly matters in this life.

Be well, everyone! Life is so precious! Keep your focus on what really matters!

Hello Paula - one of my favorite words is pause.  I admit I am far from an expert when it comes to effectively using it but it remains something I proudly use as an example of my work-in-progress.

Hi Paula,
I'm pretty good at tuning out the negative input coming from all directions. Mostly, I avoid watching the news. I try to stay informed on the important stuff without getting overwhelmed. If there is something going wrong that I can do something about I do it. If not, I move on.

Hello Paula,  I spent several hours in nature therapy yesterday.  It is so good for the heart, mind, and soul. I took a lot of photos and a few videos.  I feel so renewed.

There are so many distractions ... pausing and stepping away to get perspective and focus on what really matters is so important otherwise we allow ourselves to get sucked up in all the drama.

Paula,

We are big fans of nature therapy.  And we just do not get sucked to all the idiocy that abounds.  A

Morning Paula.

With the excessive heat wave we've experienced lately it was refreshing to have temps drop 10º yesterday with a little rain.  I sat on the back porch and watched the grass grow.

I totally agree about everything you said in this post. Yesterday was hot but I still went for my afternoon walk, enjoying all the land has to offer. I saw tons of butterflies, deer and even an owl. Even though it was hot, it was refreshing.

I discovered 25 years ago the importance of "me time"  we all need to have it scheduled as part of our week and treat it as an appointment.  Without it, bad things happen!
