Yesterday I went to the auto parts store and asked for an oil filter for my daughters Toyota Yaris. The man behind the counter looked experienced so I was quite surprised when he hesitated, asked me the model again and then told me he had never heard of a Toyota Yaris.

This reminded me of my early years in Real Estate when someone asked me if there were any Cape Cod homes on the current inventory. I had no clue what a Cape Cod home was. I was embarresed.

Learning the styles of the homes you sell should be basic Real Estate knowledge. I made it a priority after my embarrassment to know the names of the basic styles. If you google home styles you will see 20 styles there... would you know them all?

 

BTW the Yaris was sold in the USA for 21 years. The man at the counter appeared to have been selling auto parts twice that long yet he had not heard of Toyota's entry level vehicle.

I have to admit I never heard of a Yaris until now!

 

And yes, there are always things to learn in any business. The names for homes styles where I am now is different than where I came from. Very interesting.

Well, being in North Dakota, he was way more familiar with pick up trucks.  Had you mentioned a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma he would have been right at home.

Hi Bob,

The cars that are popular in Sedona are the Subaru and all models of Jeep!  I never heard of the Yaris.

Jeeps have been red hot here lately as well Sheri Sperry - MCNE® and not just with the guys. Now that you have heard of Yaris start looking for them, I bet you will see 6 or more tomorrow.

That is what I was thinking Carol Williams . I understand him not knowing every model of every vehicle but a model that has been out there for 21 years and popular in our area screams incompetence to me.
