Lately, we have been spotting a few green throated hummingbirds enjoying these blossoms of our specimen succulent. The flowers are just right for their long beaks to enjoy the nectar within.
Occasionally one will rest on the stem, and look around. It sits very still and check out the scenery. And then flies off for a taste of another flower.

As a a little kid I had seen my first hummingbird. Not knowing what it was placed it as a giant bee in my small mind. What a scary stinger it had and lucky for me a full pane of glass in the storm door kept us both safe. This succulent appears ready for the wedding to start Alexandra.

We had three hummingbird nests in various spots. Quincy likes to walk on top of the fence and two of them were shooing him away...And I grabbed him. He knows not to bother the hummers, the attack his head and leave him with bald spots...LOL. A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel It's interesting to see the different plants you have in your part of the country! We saw ruby throated hummingbirds outside our window this morning - I have never seen a green throated hummingbird, but would love to!
I think hummingbirds are fascinating!!! They are passing through our area on their way to Mexico so Larry and I have several feeders out.
Hummingbirds are fun to watch as they move those wings so quickly. We see them a lot know on the rose of sharon bushes
