It used to be that in the Question and Answer section there were rules posted at the top of the page that let you know what you could and could not do in that section. One prohibition was the placement of advertising. Now I am seeing more and more agents place copies of business cards as well as lengthy blurbs about their companies and blatant advertising aimed at getting business. This is not what the Q & A section was about. I know that other agents and I have flagged these agents' answers, but AR does nothing to remove them.

If the rules have changed (and I hope they haven't), then we need to be notified of this so that those others who want to advertise can do so, not just the agents who are not following the old rules. In my opinion, the Q & A should remain a forum where laypersons can seek advice from us, and not a place where we can promote ourselves. Let our answers show the customers if we know what we are talking about or not. We do not need banners, business cards, and other graphics for self-promotion here. Save that for your blogs. If buyers and sellers come to just see us as an online "infomercial" we could lose a lot of our credibility. At the very least we need to follow the rules that are set up for the AR community.

PS: AR also needs to monitor its flags better to let violators know that they are knowingly, or perhaps unknowingly, violating the guidelines of this site.
