Over 55? Discounts?
When I was shopping recently at Harris Teeter I didn't know whether to be offended or jump across the counter and hug the cashier for giving me a seniors discount. I never really thought that being 55 was considered a senior but, for some retail stores and restaurants, they offer discounts at 55 with an AARP membership and some without - you just need to show identification that you are 55 or older.
I was talking to a colleague of mine this morning that is a year younger than I am (over 55) and he sent me a text of the line of people at Chick fil A and I asked him if it was seniors day, he didn't know, so I looked online and found out that Chick fil A offers 10% off to over 55 at some locations or a free refillable drink. Then I looked for a list of places offering discounts and some require an AARP membership (which I have...smirk).
We all work hard for our money and we've earned every penny of that discount, I say embrace the discount. It's not that we're old after all!!
