On September 9, 2021, ATTOM Data Solutions reported nationwide there were 15,838 U.S. properties received a foreclosure filing default notices, scheduled auctions or bank repossessions in August of 2021, higher 27.0% from July of 2021, and jumped 60.0% from August of 2020. Nationwide one in every 8,677 homes had a foreclosure filing in August of 2021.
Lenders foreclosed (REO) on a total of 2,474 U.S. properties in August of 2021, gained 2.0% from July of 2021, and increased 22.0% from August of 2020.
State of Illinois had the highest rate with one in every 3,848 homes were in foreclosure in August of 2021, and Bakersfield, California Metro Area had the highest rate with one in every 1,796 homes in foreclosure in August of 2021.
