I just want to see your NEW ACTIVERAIN OUTSIDE BLOG!ActiveRain Outside Blgos

On Wednesday, when I saw Brad Andersohn 's blog announcement ActiveRain Launches Outside Blogs - How Do You Get Yours?  hit the roll I am sure I let out a scream - I am a pretty excitable person.  After reading through Brad's awesome detailed post with the "how to's" I was off to make my own!!

The set up was easy and I was done except for loading my header graphic because of some glitch but I knew that if I watched my blog roll someone from AR would be making some type of post to let me know what was going on. I just needed to be patient.

I am pretty simple and I really do trust the team at ActiveRain when it comes to helping us reach that SEO trophy.  I then saw Bob Stewart address the on going question of Duplicate Content and Outside Blogs so off I went to read. Now I am not literate in most of this type of computer/seo/google language, but guess what?  The way Bob explained it - I GOT IT!!  With the conversation that followed I learned more and now I know that Google just wants to know the originator and that is all I need to know - pretty simple and I would like to thank Bob - even though he didn't win his 3rd Grade Spelling Bee he is still a pretty smart guy!! :)

Then up on my blog roll came Jonathan Washburn's blog Outside Blogs - Known Issues List I knew I was going to see some updated information here and sure enough I did.  Now I knew when I would be able to get my blog finished on my end.  For some reason I couldn't load my header on FireFox and so I thought I would wait until this morning after the 11pm fixes were complete.  Sure enough I have my graphic header with just a couple of clicks!! Awesome!!

I know there are more issues that are in the works - I think there is a Domain issue after reading some others and so in 3 days if my new Domain doesn't show up I will see what is going on. I went and purchased a special Domain just for this blog because I know that will be the best way to get some great Google Juice - my new Domain is www.BeyondBremertonRealEstate.com but since you can't check there yet here is the sub-domain link BeyondBremertonRealEstate

I know that there are still some issues with the "About Jo" page which I am sure is in the process of being addressed and I will just be patient. I trust AR totally!

Remember Picnik is a great tool to use to re-size your photo and your banner to acheive the specified sizes - if you need help or want one completed for you just send me an email with your banner photo and I will re-size it and email it back to you.  Email :: jo@westsoundlive.com.  I mean that!

So - here is my BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX ACTIVERAIN OUTSIDE BLOG!!

ActiveRain Outside Blog :: Jo Soss

Now post a link to yours!!! We want to see - or take a screen shot and post in the comments!!

PS - I used spell check right here in the AR editor!! woo hoo - thanks Jorgen Hahn

I saw that yesterday and haven't taken a look yet.  The pic you provided looks great.  The SEO stuff I've got to get a handle on.  Thanks for the additional push to break my mental block on the subject.

Thesa's in my office and she's all over that stuff.

Good post as usual.

Hi Jo...Way to go!  First you got your outside blog up and running and now you have a feature.

I have two outside blogs now and am trying to figure out what to do.  I certainly cannot handle three.   This is such a huge help for me.  I have to see if I can convert (and yes, I know there is a way I just have to find out how to do it which may take years) one of mine using some of my AR posts.

Good luck with yours.

Kathleen

Kathleen, Thanks  I have 3 other outside blogs - I am trying to convert my WP.com to my new WP.org and then I have a relocation blog and a personal website and I can tell you there are days I am up till dawn :)

Kat, Thanks, If you need any help just give a holler I really will just give you a call and we can work out what you are confused about.

Jo - love the new Blog! :-)  Let me know if you have any issues with setting up the nameservers.  I am watching that closely, and once we simplify the process and it's working smoothly, I'll post a video or tutorial to help others set theirs up too.  Love how you connected all 3 of our posts here, nice work, thank you.  :-)
Thanks for being so patient and so supportive.  We've only just begun!  :-)

BTW - as of this evening, there are about 1400 members who have at least started setting up their outside blogs. That's in the last 24-48 hours. Very cool!!!

Wayne, thanks! I hope to see yours soon!

Courtney, post the link when you can - how long do you think it will take.

Roland, Be sure to come back and show us! It really is very easy and shouldn't take too much time once you have your banner sized and your domain name :)

Tina, You can have it up and running in like 20 minutes if you know what you want to use for a banner - if you need anything let me know!

John, I really think the outside blog is going to blog the socks off the "innie" once it is all set - I am betting "top spot" :)

Brad, My new domain from godaddy is active and the servers to AR are showing over there. I have enabled the outside blog so I am just in wait mode right now - I have no idea how long that should take. 1400!! Woo Hoo!! I want to see them :).  I am so excited about this!! I think I will throw a party when the new Localism comes out!!

Thesa, hey girl! This is very easy. Once you have your images sized right it will only take about 15 minutes! Then of course the domain name - I think the new domain name is a must for the SEO! Have a great weekend!! Oh, and Fred might need some help! lol!

Jo - always on the lookout for new things I jumped in right away but there are issues that I will wait to have resolved before I continue for now it resides on active rain.

In the meantime I will wait "patiently" as the AR Gurus work their way through the little glitches such as the email and picture resizing issues.

I love my new outside blog. All the instructions were super easy! I bought a new domain (one I should have bought a long time ago) It hasn't loaded there yet. lizettefitzpatrick.com for now it is at ky.activerain.com

I love the header I created at Picnik. It was so easy to use one of my photos and tweak it a thousand different ways.

The only problem was having to decide which version to use...I liked them all. I hope to see my blog up soon under the new .com. With all the help here on AR, there is no excuse why you can't do it yourself.

Wow, I really did not do much yet but follow Brads instructions and I am so impressed. It has all my info, blogs and about me without me doing much. I cannot wait to really work on it!!

Sally & David, Thanks so much! It really is easy. I just looked at Dawn's and she sure has it together too!

Maureen, I am sure it's not! Why do you say that?

Craig, I haven't checked this morning - did you see Dawn's? Hers is working and awesome. I am sure we will get it straight soon.

Dawn!!! How did you get your domain to work!! Where did you get it? And it looks like you chose more colors than I did - I didn't think you could. I need more tweak!! lol!! Yours is awesome!!!

Lizett, AWESOME!! I love Picnik - I have all these expensive software programs for photos and what do I use - yep the free Picnik! I think I need to upgrade there and see what else they have. Love you banner!!

David, AWESOME! Thanks for posting a shot! Like you said it was really easy!!

Steve, Thanks, I hope you will come back and share!

OK Jo, I am back with my screen shot. http://www.DenverCORealEstateSource.com

I am having issues with some images in the posts but I will have to figure that out still.

By the way - I read on someone else's blog that was featured today about a domain thing to do if its still isn't working - I think that may help you.  Here is the link to it - go to the bottom of the post.  If you don't want this link here, you are welcome to delete.

Steve, that is awesome! I love your banner - mine went live as soon as I went and removed the www. I started without it and then thought I should have it and then removed it and put http:// and then removed that and put http://www. and so when I saw the screen shot that CJ posted I was like - ok I am my own worse enemy!! lol!!

I am not using a photo larger than 600 wide on my AR blog so that it will propagate to the OSB properly. I also changed the photos on my profile so they would fit. There is a small lag in the update but so far so good.
