Motivational Monday...Good Neighbors
While roaming around Cyberville, I saw that Tuesday, September 28, is National Good Neighbor Day. Now more than ever, it wouldn’t hurt for any and all of us to look at what we’re doing to be good neighbors to those around us.
Larry and I have been so lucky to have lived with good neighbors around us. Our neighbor, Jerry, is one of those. He went to see my brother and his band play recently just to support him. The man is 74 years old and went! Larry and I didn’t even go!
Our neighbors aren’t just the people next door or on our street. Expanding our reach, our neighbors are those within our own towns and cities. They are our fellow Texans or Floridians.
Our neighbors are our fellow countrymen and women and they are those with whom we share our planet.
Regardless of party affiliation or what side of the fence we stand on, we are all in this thing together.
So as you begin this week, consider what you can do to be a good neighbor to someone.
Some tips…
~Check on an elderly neighbor
~Take in your neighbor’s trash can
~Take homemade cookies or bread to a neighbor.
~On your walks, whether in your own neighborhood or in a park, pick up litter rather than leaving it for someone else.
~Bring in coffee for your “work” neighbor
Goodness is about character - integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people. Dennis Prager
We become good neighbors when we are willing to cross the road for one another. Henri J.M. Nouwen
