I just got back from working 4 days up at the Rim Fire near Paradise, California. I am an EARS volunteer shelter leader and was responsible for the intake and welfare of the dogs for the evacues in that area. We have 57 dogs and 121 cats at the school where we were set up. It is very hard work doing 15 hour days. I am taking a break, then I am going back for 3 days next week. They need rain up there with NO lightning. The fires have merged and containment may be possible after July 7th. Pray for that! All the animals are doing great.
Going back to sleep now.... ;)

Leslie:

I agree. I think the firefighters have gotten some cooperation from the weather over the weekend. the Oliver fire is not 60% contained. However, the Big Sur fire is still raging and the last report was that only 3% was contained. It looks like the coast has been getting some higher humidity in the last two days. Hopefully, that will help the firefighters in their efforts.

Lori:

Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of all of those displaced pets and their owners. You are providing an invaluable service and supplementing our firefighters and emergency crews' efforts to contain the fire.  I can only imagine how exhausting it has been for you.
