International Coffee Day is an occasion to promote and celebrate coffee as a beverage, with events occurring in places across the world.
The first official celebration was in 2015, as agreed to by the International Coffee Organization
It was launched in Milan.
International Coffee Day is also used to promote fair trade coffee and to raise awareness for the plight of both coffee growers and coffee plantation workers.
On this day, some smart businesses may even offer free or discounted cups of coffee! Some businesses share coupons and special deals-but only with their loyal followers via social networks such as Facebook and Instagram.
Some greeting card companies sell National Coffee Day greeting cards, and there sometimes free e-cards can be found online.
