Foreclosures Stats 3rd Quarter Of 2021

On October 14, 2021, ATTOM Data Solutions reported nationwide there were 45,517 distress properties in the 3rd quarter of 2021, rose 34.0% from the 2nd quarter of 2021, and jumped 102.0% from the 3rd quarter of 2020. State of California had the highest foreclosure rate with one in every 3,434 property in foreclosure during 3rd quarter of 2021.

Lender started 25,209 properties in the 3rd quarter of 2021, grew 32.0% from the 2nd quarter of 2021, and increased 67.0% from 3rd quarter of 2020.

Lender repossed 7,574 REO properties in the 3rd quarter of 2021, gained 22.0% from the 2nd quarter of 2021, and higher 46.0% from 2nd quarter of 2020.

With appreciation rates in excess of 20% this last year, I wonder why anyone would ever lose their home to foreclosure.
