On October 26, 2021, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau reported nationwide new single family home sales gained 14.0% to an annual rate of 800,000 homes in September of 2021 from 702,000 homes in August of 2021, but fell 17.6% from in September of 2020 an annual rate of 971,000 homes.
The median new home sold value was $408,800, while the average sales price was $451,700 in September of 2021. There were estimated 379,000 new houses for sale, and 5.7 months supplies of available inventory at the end of September of 2021.
