I Love you... FALL

In six plus decades I've never said I love you Fall. That is until this week as I've been contemplating the challenge put forth by Kathy Streib . As a matter of fact I'm well known to have said I hate fall because it means that winter is just around the corner.

Yesterday I had an epiphany on the subject after replying to a comment by Ed Silva on an earlier post of mine. I told Ed "every once in a while we go straight from summer to winter. The worst I remember was September of 2006 we had a huge blizzard that damaged the trees because they had all their green leaves on yet. Of course that took down power lines all over the State as well. That snow stayed on the ground until the next spring."

With that in mind I've decided I am VERY grateful for the Fall season. What a blessing it is to gradually transition from Summer into Winter. I Love Fall... starting just yesterday. 😄

I like that A. Snow "a la carte".  I used to view Fall as an early part of Winter but it's a rare winter day that is above 50 degrees and we have had a lot of those this Fall Ron and Alexandra Seigel .

I completly understand James Dray but at least your winters are warmer and shorter than ours.

I have not been skiing for decades Will Hamm but I am appreciative of other aspects of winter, especially the peace and quite it offers.

Bob "RealMan" Timm, in the Pacific NW, we have "mini Fall," so we plant lots of Japanese Maple trees because they are one of a few types of trees that leaves still turn brilliant red! I'm glad you changed your mind. I "love to hate Fall" because we don't have it; you know how that goes! It's one of those feelings... Thank you for sharing. ;)

Thank you Aura Alex 😉. We usually have a couple of months of Fall that span from late September to late October give or take a week on each end. That's the norm but I do remember several Decembers where we wondered if we would have snow for Christmas.

Good for you. You might as well love it, because hating it won't make it go away! I'm not eager to see winter either, but... might as well love that too.

Well said Marte Cliff . It doesn't help to "hate" anything does it. I think I'm going to enjoy Fall weather from now on.

I think it's a big deal too Wendy Rulnick and I think it's going to be a wonderful change. It may even encourage me to change some other negative attitudes.

Hi Bob- We don't get the drastic changes in season like some areas but we have more of a winter here in Houston than we had in Florida. Fall and Winter will come regardless so you might as well embrace it!!!

It's taken me 67 years to even consider embrasing it Kathy Streib but I'm buying into it whole hog at this point 🙂.

It's even hard for me to understand at times Brian England but over the years I've had many people from FL and other Southern States tell me they love winter sports, hunting, the low crime rate, and more. I do like winter and I don't even mind -30 degree temps but I wish we could condense out winters down to 2 or 3 months instead of 5 or 6.

That made me chuckle Nina Hollander, Broker . I've actually considered moving to Death Valley thinking I only want "Hotter" but now at home I kick in the AC at 80 so maybe 120 might just be a little to much.

Thank you Roy Kelley , I'm knocking off early today to mow the lawn and collect the leaves for the last time in 2021. I know it sounds like work but I really do enjoy it.

Oh, I am totally with you, Bob! We have 4 great seasons and I used to be so sad to see summer go. Now, I hate to see summer go but, I really do appreciate God's gift of gorgeous foliage and cooler, crisper fall weather. I guess in our older age, we have learned to appreciate things that we never WANTED to notice before!
