23 Comments on From College Trash to a Stager's Treasure
Some of our best props and pieces were picked up along the way in places other than retail or even wholesale stores. That is the fun of Staging - giving new life to something another person considers "used up." - Jennie
Patty,
Hard to believe you have a daughter in college, you look like you could be in college yourself! =) It's great that she had furnishings that you could use for your business! Love the gametable, it looks like the perfect size for staging. When you want to give a room the feel of a game room without having to haul in the card table and all!
Patty ~ You got some great items. I love the game table, and was actually looking for one for an interior decorating client. Any ideas? The chairs work well with it too.
You've got the eye, Patty! Julie
What a great idea, I bet lots of stuff gets thrown away after college, raid the dumpsters!!!
Both my daughters are finished university now but there is a College in our town. You have given me the inspiraton to make sure I am there when the next semester lets out. You just never know what you can find on the curb. You certainly lucked out. Fantastic games vignette.
Patty - this was a cool find. Not only is it unique, but looked to be in pretty good condition. This alerts me to watch the goodwill store and places like that.
Good bargain spotting! Melody
Patty ~ When I worked at Stanford University I could not believe all the treasures students would just leave behind! Since most of them live too far away it wasn't worth their time to have it moved. The smart people would go "shopping" around campus housing for fantastic finds. Looks like you found a perfect piece for your job!
You creatively found a good way to use her things. Great job!
Patty, great vision! I've been repurposing some of my daughter's apartment furnishings, a can of black spray paint goes a long way!
I think my nephew decorated (ok that's a strong word), furnished his college room from curb treasures.
The gaming table looks fabulous. Great find. Sometimes thare can be great finds at second hand stores as well.
Hi Patty, that is quite a "find"! It's great that you were able to use it for your latest staging project!
Adorable! Where's the trash pile, again?
It looks good. We've been able to 'repurpose' many such items... the worst is driving by a pile of mattresses on the side of the road thinking, should I get the truck and pick those up? Of course my assistant always stops me... lol (probably for the best)
Bill - So true!
Ronelle - Especially a stager!
Bob & Carolin- I agree.
Jeannie - I agree with you. I analyze everything to see if it can be used for staging.
Well, I see I'm going to have to do a drive-by ~ to the local campus that is and see what I can find.
I love the gaming table, if you needed to buy one you probably couldn't get a table more perfect.
My daughter just moved from her apartment and there were a few prints that I grabbed. In fact there is a home that they aleady will be placed.

Julie- Thanks.
Patrice- You would not believe how much!
Looks great Patty. Who is there right mind would have thrown that away? lol.
