My Dearest Body: I love you!

We try to subjugate the body to perform by beating or shaming it into submission, but just as the horse smacked into going fast, has to slow down after the race, so does the body.

Loving your body for the wonderful, amazing machine that it is, whether you are 10 pounds over your desired weight or 100, is the best way to embark on the journey to lifelong health. If the body wants to rest at whatever weight, just let it. Do the cardio to clear your head; the weight loss is simply a bonus.

Please read the new "Quantum Wellness"! In it, Kathy Freston talks about "leaning into" fitness without any perceived great discomfort. No drama. Just allowing the mental to absorb the new direction and letting the body go at it's own pace, while the mind fine tunes the way there until there is a tipping point and quantum changes are incurred.

I love my body! I can move every inch of it with ease. It gives me pleasure and I appreciate it very much! I am so thankful for my healthy body!

Hi Mirela......I agree-although I sometimes forget this---just can't get to the gym---I thank God every day that I am healthy as well, I could lose a few-but feel healthy.

I am always sad to see people treat their bodies with such contempt.

Loving your body, every inch of it, is a most liberating experience. It is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. That acceptance gives you "wings" to embark on the journey to fine tuning your amazing "machine".

I am hoping you will read the book. Kathy has exactly the same ideas about health and balance that I do. She has written an incredibly enlightening book. Please read it and come back and let me know how much it impacted you.

Aida: I carry my gym bag with me at all times. Whenever I can fit in a quick jog, walk, yoga or weight training, I just do it. It doesn't have to be very time consuming. 20 minutes is a heck of a lot better than nothing. It's the consistency that makes all the difference in the world.

It is much better to work out for 20 minutes five times a week, than to work out for two hours twice a week. The consistency is key!

Exactly why I like to do physical things as my stress reliever... never the gym, tooooo boring! but hiking, and beating my self up on a boat... FUN, and good for me!

Hmm. Well, I'm currently working off a few pounds... you heard right. I am working off a few pounds. All it takes is stepping up the exercise level =) However, if I was as thin as the woman on the front of that book, I think it would be pretty easy to tell my body I love it =/

Lisa: That's just the point: first you love your body. Not later; NOW!

I used to model and I also had a modeling agency. I spent a good portion of my life around what people considered extremely attractive girls/women. Many of those girls hate their bodies, even though they look better than the woman in the picture you made reference to.

Loving your body comes before takling the weight loss.

Rob: If you came with me to the gym, I assure you, it would NOT be boring! Hiking is better than anything else anyway, because it's outdoors and it relaxes on several different levels. The boating... we won't even go there, you know how I feel about that (hint: BIG SMILE!!!).
