The holidays are approaching, and we're all looking forward to more time with family and friends. With this, we get to enjoy the boundless energy that kids bring to any gathering.
One of my personal goals as a mom is to be playful with my kids during our time off. So, if this is something you strive for too, here are three creative ways to get kids laughing!
1. 2 Truths & a Lie
This fun game can be played in a group of people you don't know, or a close family. Find tricky two truths and a lie examples and see if they can pick out the lie.
Here's a fun example:
I once had a wild animal for a pet.
I was named after a famous person.
I am left-handed.
It's hard to pick out the lie right?! That's what we're going for!
2. Tell a Riddle or Joke
My kids LOVE these and it's pretty easy to surprise a kid with a riddle. Here are our two favorites:
" What has a head and a tail but no body?" - A penny
"What has a mouth but cannot eat, what moves but has no legs, and what has a bank but cannot put money in it?" - A river
3. Do a Tongue Twister
Do you remember these as a kid? A lot of time was spent trying to get it just right!
Teach your kids a fun classic like " Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers." A dare you to say that five times fast!
In Conclusion
This holiday season, borrow that kid energy and get down on their level. You might just find that life is a fun and wondrous place when you let yourself be a little more playful.
