Enjoying Thanksgiving and What's Left Over...

All the fixins

Well, the feast is done, the turkey was carved and served along with all the fixins. So what is next?  Plenty of leftovers are what is left.  I made enough food for at least 10 people and there were only four adults.  There were never going to be more than four adults!  Oh well,  my husband had a big plate for breakfast and then another one for an early dinner.  I have been informed that he is only going to have pie for dinner.

We get an extra day of Tristan to enjoy.  We normally watch him while his dad goes to work.  He will be staying over an extra night.  We are blessed.

Then there are all the leftover emails from Black Friday and the prior week.  We are talking about hundreds of emails. These are leftovers that I would rather say, "No Thank You"!  The funny thing is that the same emails will be back again tomorrow and we will do this all over again.

Another "over" might be a "Do-over"... Meriam-Webster describes a do-over like this as "a new attempt or opportunity to do something after a previous attempt has been unsuccessful or unsatisfactory".

So, I might make a little less food in a "do-over" ...or maybe not!  Maybe a do-over is needed because I enjoyed the day with the company of family and a special friend.  Good food, good conversation, and good friendship.  What more could we ask for on Thanksgiving 2021.  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and can't wait to have a "do-over".

Sedona wishes you a happy Thanksgiving Sheri Sperry Sedona-lifestyle.com

Sheri & Rick, I tried to find turkey parts, as I no way could eat a whole turkey by myself, so had a half of a rib eye steak, roasted asparagus, stuffing and pecan pie.  YUM!   Happy Thanksgiving.

HI Sheri... I remember my step-mother telling me to always make more than you think you might need as how awkward would it be to tell someone who's asked for seconds there's no more. So I always make more than I need... but not at Thanksgiving... I don't cook on Thanksgiving... so no leftovers. But today, I will roast a turkey breast and probably have enough left over for a casserole in a few days.

Hi Sheri - that was one thing we had to deal with when we hosted.  Not this year we went to my daughters inlaws.

Hi Kat Palmiotti - Thank you.  When I try to make just the right amount of food, I usually worry that someone didn't get the portion they wanted.

Hi Wayne Martin - I have to laugh.  I actually bought some "to go" containers so that my guests could take some home.  Of course, my husband starts to hover while I make the containers.  He wants to make sure there is some for him! LOL

HI Raymond Henson, eXp Realty - Thank you. It gets so busy on holidays and I  would always recommend coming up to Sedona when there are fewer people.

Hi Joan Cox - If you lived close by you would have been invited to my house.  You might not know this but pecan pie is my favorite.  Unfortunately, I can never find a small serving and the rest of my family doesn't like it the same as I do.  I won't buy a whole pie because I will eat the whole thing!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® I would have LOVED to come to dinner with you guys!   I ate half my pecan pie, and luckily took the other half to Laura's for dessert, and everyone else ate the rest.   I would have eaten it all too, it is my fav pie too!

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker - I think that has always been at the back of my mind.  I come from a family of 3 brothers and I have 2 sons.  So you are right, you need enough food for seconds and thirds!

Hi Grant Schneider -  That does make it easy.  It was rare for my family to host but when they did, it was a real treat for me.

We ended up with nothing as a left over as we cooked the bird but brought it to my nieces house where all assembled.  Not even a piece of anything for desert.  My wife is cooking a much smaller turkey on Sunday and then I get my leftovers,  Yum, yum

Hi Sheri- I'm in the better to have too much than not enough camp!!! We had 32 and later two who dropped by for coffee. We had a lot of leftovers and everyone took some home if they wanted. Today I took all of our leftovers and made a casserole out of them...including the cranberry sauce!!! It was really good!!!

Hi Ed Silva - I can only remember a couple of times we went to a family member's house for Thanksgiving.  After my parents moved away, it fell on me to have all the holidays.  My sister and sister-in-laws would help so it was never too much trouble.

Sheri:

Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends, family and good food (the photo is terrific). We are still eating leftovers and family is gone! I suspect there will just be lots of food through the New Year!!
