This Week...Cookies

Every year we know that this is going to happen...Thanksgiving comes (always on a Thursday) and then BAM! We realize that we have just a few more weeks until Christmas.

You can’t be a smart cookie if you have a crumbly attitude.

unknown

You’d think we’d have learned by now but no...we don’t. Well, there are "the exceptions.
I know without even asking that a good friend of mine has had all of her gifts purchased and wrapped by the end of the summer.

People have got to learn: if they don`t have cookies in the cookie jar, they can`t eat cookies.  Suze Orman

I do have gifts that are tucked away in my closet (not yet wrapped because I don’t like to wrap) and decorations are up.

They`re the cookies we smelled as kids, the ones we first learned to make as teenagers and the ones we may have burned in college when we learned that combining baking and drinking presents certain challenges.

 Rebecca Firth

However, I read that today is National Cookie Day so the push is on to get some cookies made. Last year, Larry and I baked all sorts of cookies and had so much fun making them. It put us in the holiday spirit.

Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o`clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.  Barbara Jordan

Have a Milk and Cookies Weekend!

As a child, I remember always looking forward to the box of cookies sent to me by my great aunt 3 weeks before Christmas

Hi, Kathy Streib - I used to bake cookies at the open house earlier in my real estate career; how things have changed today! No more baking cookies to catch the "sweet-tooth" potential buyers. I love your post! Have a wonderful "cookie" weekend!  :)

Kathy my wife makes fudge (she makes the best fudge) this time of year to give to close friends.  It has gotten to the point now that the children of these close family's, especially those who come home from college for the holidays, are now requesting their own box to take back to school with them.☺️

Next week, I will start making the homemade German Chocolate cookies that are only made during the holidays. It is such a fun thing to give to people, Kathy. The quotes about the cookie jar says it all about our industry!

Hi Kathy,
The only time I remember having cookies as a kid was at Christmastime when my Aunt baked an interesting variety. I do love cookies and I used to make cookies occasionally because my husband loved them. Of course, I ate some with him to be a good sport. LOL  I don't bake now unless I am going to take it somewhere. Too tempting and my willpower wanes very easily.

It's definitely a cookie time of year, Kathy! We made our annual tradition of cookies with 2 of the grandkids the Saturday after Thanksgiving (the dough was made the Wednesday before). We ended up with around 17 dozen! Lots of eating ahead even with giving away a good number fo our daughters' and their families.

I think I am past buying presents at Christmas, with the exception of my mom.  It's a relief to not have to get out there and buy, buy, buy.  Just in line for a decoation the other day I thought I would have a nervous breakdown.  The retail hysteria is insane this time of year.

All my presents are wrapped and ready! Well, except for two that still haven't arrived yet...due this week.

I haven't baked any cookies in quite awhile, but I do have mini pumpkin pies in the freezer and some apple crisp in the fridge I made yesterday!
