Do you sometimes find that as you are engaged in doing one thing - it will trigger off thoughts and ideas that relate to another; speaking in particular to home staging. That's what happened to me today coming up with this simple thought that I thought I'd share...
...unless one demonstrates that his/her property has value, that message is likely to be hindered, or not even heard when trying to sell a house. The biggest mistake a seller can make is to do nothing - as was recently stated on an HGTV's Top Selling Tips program. So true.
As home stagers, we know and understand all the important things that should be done in order to optimize a property's selling potential, such as; declutter, clean, repair things so the seller isn't selling projects (unless the house is priced accordingly), along with showing off the homes' best features via staging or merchandising.
So how fair is it to expect the potential buyer to view the listing as having greater value than is being personally demonstrated by the seller? Getting the property ready with the buyer in mind will, more often than not, be of benefit to the seller's desired goal - selling the house. Actually it can end up being a win/win, which is really a great way to do business.
