When I find myself with a little time on my hands, I look forward to cleaning out some of my old files. You see, as I run across an article or useful piece of information that I want to keep, I file it away....only to sometimes forget about it.  Cleaning out an old file is a bit like that famous quote from the movie Forrest Gump - life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get. Yesterday, I happened across an email that was sent to me by a dear friend, shortly after my father passed way in 1999.  I would like to share it with you if I may.

"Jani, I am so sorry for your loss.  I can't even begin to imagine the emptiness you must feel for the missing part of your being.  If it's any consideration, I reflect upon our conversation as we drove back from Co Springs.  I asked you, if you think you'd make it to heaven and you answered witha resounding "yes".  If your father was half the person you are, I think he will be there also.  Imagine the joy that lays in front of you to meet him again.  I think you are one of the most geniune people I've ever met.  Let the pain and sorrow flow through you.  Let it touch each fiber of your being.  It's the best way to grieve and feel the emotion that can only be felt for someone  you truly love.  Pain can be a very good thing.    It can make us love even deeper and empathize even greater.  Hang in there Jani, you know that I care about you."

Wow... what a blessing it was to find that yesterday!  I don't think when my friend wrote to me in a casual email, that he ever thought I would drag it out 9 years later, but I'm glad I did!

So, grab an M & M or two and go through some of your old files.  You may just find a treasure like I did! It can make a bad day good, or a great day even better!

Diana,  I'm always up for an uplifting story, if it's something that you would like to share.  I always get a kick out of the real estate articles that I cut out and two years later, how the market has changed!'

You need to make a "treasure box" for stuff like this.

As for anything else, I was given some good advice a few weeks ago.......If it's something you need to keep for business, scan it and put it in a file (back it up) and you can throw it away.  This way you can eliminate a lot of the other stuff you have.  Keep the treasures in a box tucked away.
