Throwback Thursday: A Special Visit from Santa
In looking for some photos, I came across a few taken at one of our early Christmas luncheons. This particular year we were going to disappoint a few youngsters as Santa had called and was under the weather.
Fortunately, I was inspired by an article that I saw in our local paper that the Volunteer Fire dept was having Santa at various stops in town and their last was going to be at the end of our cul-de-sac. I offered a donation to the charity of their choice if Santa could just stop in briefly to say hello to the kids.
Santa and Mrs. Claus showed up in front of the house riding on the top of a ladder truck. The kids and even a few of the adults were impressed.
The 2 boys on Santa's lap are in their last years of college.
The youngster to the right of Santa is our 28-year-old grandson Nicholas.
Even my wife was happy to get some special time with Santa.
Santa and Mrs. Claus stayed for over an hour. There were 12 kids under the age of 10 and all got a gift from Santa and made their personal Christmas wishes known to him as well.
Christmas carols were sung, and the kids were surprised to see, Mrs. Claus take a few deserts from the table with here. She was obviously not as fearful of gaining weight as Santa might have been
It was a fun day and Santa and the fire dept got me out of hot water and allowed me to pull off a little Christmas magic as well.
