'TIS THE SEASON

Do you start to salivate at the thought of a special delicasie sauted in garlic butter?  This treat can be  expensive, but  persons of a mind for this tastey delight can start collecting it this week -  free for the taking.

FROGGING

I'm speaking of  FROG SEASON in the Ozarks.  It starts June 30 and runs through October   31.  It's classified as both a hunting and a fishing season, depending on the method used to   catch the bullfrogs.

Shades of Mark Twain - bullfrog hunting is as much a tradition for the Ozarks as some of the state's other hunting and fishing events.

The tastiness of frog legs, plus the ease of hunting them, adds to the popularity of the frogging.  The only equipment many froggers use is a flashlight, their bare hands and a gunny sack to hold the caught frogs.  There is no other sport like it.

FROG

The bag limit is eight bullfrogs or green frogs.

When it comes to eating frog legs, there is a big divide.  People who won't touch them, and people who can't wait to get them on their plate.  If you try them, you may find that you'll want to try some more.

I love to eat frog legs

BUT I can not imagine hunting or fishing them and killing them

So, thank you this one is not for me

Joan - As a kid I would catch frogs for fishing and we always would release the big bullfrogs after a few hours of racing them - I never thought of eating them:( I might try frogs legs if someone caught, killed and cooked them for me but no way I'm doing the killing.
