Pros and Cons of Living in Powell Ohio

If you are thinking about moving to Powell Ohio then watch my video above for my two biggest pros and cons about living in Powell.

I try to give people a snapshot of what it's like to live and what I consider the best suburb in Columbus Ohio,

I'm going to discuss two of my biggest pros and cons about living in Powell Ohio  could go into a lot more detail on each, but want to keep these blog post pretty short.

There are way more pros than there are cons about living in Powell but there are always going to be a few drawbacks  in any community.

PROS

Olentangy Schools

The first pro has to be our school district it is one of our greatest assets of our community.  The Olentangy School system is one of the top rated school districts every year in central Ohio.  Even as a district continues to grow the quality of education remains  excellent test scores from all the schools continue to be some of the best in the state.

Columbus Zoo and Country Clubs

The second pro would be the country clubs and Columbus zoo which are located in  Powell.  There are three country clubs (Wedgewood Country Club, Kinsale Country Club and Scioto Reserve Country Club) that support the area.   Now in certain parts of the country these  types of clubs have this elitist condensation.   In Columbus country clubs tend to be more of a casual  and are more neighborhood driven and affordable.  Having the nationally recognized Columbus Zoo  on the west side of Powell is also a fantastic bonus.

CONS

Powell Traffic

One of the biggest cons would be Powell's traffic.  Unfortunately with all the growth in Southern Delaware County the traffic in Powell area has gotten pretty bad.  Now we're not talking about LA or Atlanta type traffic but it does get a little congested during rush hour.  So if you need to be downtown Columbus in  the morning during a work day it can't take you up to 45 minutes.  During the day its not much of a problem.

Power Lines and Railroad Tracks

There are power lines and railroad tracks that run through Powell,  If you live on the east side of Powell  you're going to hear the train.  It's something that most people just become accustomed to hearing. The power lines are also an issue and run through a few of the popular neighborhoods.  They are a  little bit of an eyesore but again residents seem to not even notice them after a while.  However both can negatively affect your home value so it's important if you're  looking to purchase an area to be careful well.
