Wordless Wednesday…Putting the Camera Down

One of my favorite hobbies is taking photos with my iPhone. It’s also fun seeing what I can do with them using the various photo editing apps I have.

Animals of any kind are especially fun but you can’t always get them to “pose” for you. I love trying to capture birds just as they take off in flight but often, by the time I have my phone ready, the bird is gone.

There on one of the docks was a beautiful Heron taking advantage of the warmth of the sun. I grabbed my phone and was hoping the Heron would decide to take flight but no such luck.

As Larry always says…sometimes you just have to enjoy the moment for what it is.

Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed. The more you are focused on time — past and future — the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.  Eckhart Tolle

If you were conscious, that is to say totally present in the Now, all negativity would dissolve almost instantly. It could not survive in your presence.  Eckhart Tolle

Hello Kathy - maybe it's because of my attempts at capturing photography at just the right time has never been successful but I agree with Larry that "the moment is often most important".

Hi Kathy - that shot did not turn out bad at all.  Sometimes you go with what you've got.

Kathy, it is hard not to grab the "camera" to capture the moment only to find you missed it.

I remember cameras with film and you had to really pick and choose when you might take a photo. I know folks now that take 40 pictures per day

Kathy the iPhone takes excellent picture, and since our cell phones are always with us, we are always ready to take a picture.

Wayne Martin I agree. Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to preserve a memory with a photo that we miss the whole memory.

Norma J. Elkins I love watching them as they hunt for their meals!!!

Kat Palmiotti so true. I get obsessed and want to capture every moment on my phone/camera but you really do miss out on a lot.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I wish the same for you. We loved seeing all of the birds when we were in Delray.

Nina Hollander, Broker When I was in Delray, a good friend and I were the ones who always took photos of our gatherings. You enjoy the moments just as they are!

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I wasn't familiar with that one either but it is one of my new favorites,

Raymond Henson, eXp Realty is it a red-winged blackbird???

Roy Kelley you make an excellent point!!!! That's why I love your photos!!!

I do not know the name and I can not find the picture.  The red is only visible when it is flying.  The red patch is on the winds, near the body.  I think it is a beautiful bird.

Michael Jacobs I need him to tell me that when I get too focused in trying to capture something.

Grant Schneider Thank you!!! Had I moved to disrupt his sun-time, he would have flown away and I would have been able to get a shot of him in flight.

I sometimes think there is a trade-off for putting the camera down and drinking in the moment.  However, at other times, I look at photos of events past, and it allows me to reconnect to the moment.

Hi Kathy,
I love taking photographs too but they rarely do justice to the moment. Sometimes putting the camera down and really noticing is the best thing to do.  Happy Thursday!
