Hey Chandler, AZ - Watch out for the "Tree Ladies"

Do you ever feel like Jane of the Jungle?

I'm sure most of you have found yourself in a predicament like this one.  You know - the times when you think you have everything for a staging job and then you realize you forgot something.  My sister took this picture of me driving from the passenger side of my SUV.  I could not see her!

My business partner is also my sister (the stories we could tell) we're always laughing about situations we have gotten ourselves into.  On this particular day while staging a vacant, we realized we needed more trees.  Trees - we need more trees - big trees!  Well.....we did what any good stager would do.  We ran over to our tree vendor located in Gilbert, AZ (about 20 miles away) but...we had to have those trees!

I have a large SUV but these trees were huge!  In order to make them all fit, they were shoved as far forward as possible and also hanging out the back window.  When you're on a deadline - safety seems to take a backseat - in this case it also took the front seat!  I really had no vision out of my vehicle.  My sister had to guide me back to the staging property.  We made it back safely and finished on time :)

We've literally had times when our vehicle was so crammed packed, that I had to hold my sister in the car, as I opened the door to let her out.  She's had sticks up her nose, area rugs on her head and has sat in the back seat covered in boxes while statues or florals were seat-belted in the front seat.  Sometimes it pays to be the driver.

We have our laughs, that's for sure.  Sometimes, I think we need to add Depends to our inventory.  I love this profession!  How many of you can relate and share your own stories.

Hi Debbie,

I hope to have as much fun with my sister when she moves back to Canada from Australia this summer. Staging is so much fun you want to share it with someone!

Debbie, what a great story! We know what you mean. How funny we stagers are, risking our lives in order to breathe life into a vacant property! So true.

I sometimes feel like a Home Decor Store on the go. Hmm...maybe that should be another title for us!

Debbie,

This story is so true to life - I've run home and taken the dust ruffle off my own bed in order to fill the need of the staging.  My poor husband always looks twice before sitting down because I may have had to grab his chair.  You do what it takes!

I have all my trees in my garage and it looks like a jungle at times.  My own house is on the market and I'm breaking a lot of my own rules of advice - but clearing out the 3 car stuffed garage/Home Decor Emporium, just isn't in the cards.

You're lucky to have your sister to work with - it really is so much fun and even better with a buddy.  I'm training my 22 year old daughter to be my assistant.

Thanks for sharing,

Mel

Mel - Thanks for commenting.  I hope you and your daughter have as many laughs as we have while staging.  Sometimes you just can't believe the things you will do for the love of this profession.

Wanda - I don't think anyone doing this job can't relate.  Don't ya just sometime shake your head at what you will do?

Too funny Debbie!  Been there too!  There are times I don't think I could squeeze a pencil in the vehicle.  Sometimes it kind of feels like a clown car when I am unloading.  Items just keep coming out as if there is no end.:)

This is sooo funny Debbie! Tonya and I feel like the Beverly Hillbillies all the time! When we first started and I had a lot of inventory at my house, the neighbors thought I was leaving my husband! LOL  :)

Michele - I can picture your clown car right now and it makes me laugh.  I think we can all relate to this craziness.

Wendy - That is very funny!  I like your analogy of the Beverly Hillbillies...we are kinda like that.

I must admit that although I have never transported a tree, the 6 kids often bring so much stuff when we go out that I am just as squished in the car.  :)  Thanks for the pic and the laugh.

Dawn - You don't look old enough to have 6 children!  I bet you are squished but I bet my trees are quieter than your crew.  Maybe we will run into each other on the streets one day.....not literally just in passing :)
