I have written posts about how to embed videos in posts in the past, but things have changed and I thought I should update this how-to topic. The good news is that it is now easier than ever.
When you find a good video that you want to share in a post, the first thing you'll need to do is get the URL of the video. You will need to copy the URL to the clipboard. You can get the URL either from the address bar or you can also right click on the video and choose 'Copy video URL'
Next, in your ActiveRain blog post. Put your cursor where you want the video to be located at and choose the "Insert/Edit Media" button on the toolbar. Paste the URL from your clipboard into the source box.
ActiveRain is currently defaulting to 560 pixels wide for the inserted video width. However, our blog post content area is 704 pixels wide. So I suggest that you type 704 in the width box. Notice below how much bigger your video will appear.
The video below is an example where I have embedded a video and then changed the width to be 704 pixels wide. See how it fills the entire width of the content area. (And if you are doing any painting this weekend, you're welcome.)
Here's a little tip for watching youtube videos, once you start playback, you can press the F key on the keyboard and it will go to full screen playback mode. If you want more ideas, check out my post
