Please avoid making it ALL ABOUT YOU.
When posting comments on another member's page, it's important to follow ActiveRain Community Guidelines. One rule in particular, under Respect the ActiveRain Community paragraph states...
- Do not advertise yourself or your services in the comment section of another members blog post.
Doing that can be seen as an intentional attempt to undermine the author's post, perhaps by saying 'look at me', while caring little about the message or the fellow member. It's disrespectful and must be upheld.
After writing a post about my local selling area, another member commented, adding a huge photo of a well known area in another state. I sent a message, asking for the reasoning behind that. No response back.
Years ago, I remember a home inspector from back east who put his signature on all comments he made. He was warned numerous times and then finally removed permanently from the ActiveRain member roster.
Currently, a few members continuously advertise themselves with pictures plus their web site address displayed when commenting on posts. Why is that tolerated rather than addressed and dealt with?
I hold nothing against these members but a behavior that goes against ActiveRain's community guidelines causes ripples. Politely asking someone to stop can cause resentment or hard feelings.
We all appreciate the opportunity to express ourselves on the ActiveRain platform while building relationships. Set rules are guidelines to follow, so doing the right thing shows other members that you truly care.
Plus it creates trust between parties.
