Monday.....I have been waiting for this Monday because I have an overdue closing that is supposed to record at 8am today.  So, I am ready for today ~ let it be a good one.  Now how about the rest of you?  Did you have a good week-end?  Hopefully no one was in the flood or fire areas, and hopefully everyone had something positive happen.

Crafts with Kids

This Monday, I want to give a special Thank You to 2 of our Colleagues.....then I am off to make a few gifts. Sometimes I buy gifts, sometimes I make them, and sometimes the gift is something I have written or read.  We all have our own idea of what a true valuable gift is.  And for many of us, it is something thoughtful, something the person took their time to do, time they gave us, or something they made.

A gift given from the heart is one that many of us value....ask any parent, or grandparent.  A Child on the other hand sifts through the Sears Catalog (do they even make these anymore) to find the newest toy, clothing, or other material thing that they want.  This is what is valuable to a child in the short term.  In the long term even children remember the time that was spent with them.

Think about the Dad that made it to all his sons games.....don't you think that child will remember?  How about the little girls remembering a day spent cooking together, or the recipes they are taught....how many times have you heard the smile in a little voice when they tell someone....."I made that!"  Or the little boy that cooks and the girl that plays sports as I believe that both boys and girls can do anything, and shouldn't be limited by gender.

Today I am going to be making some little FIMO (clay) gifts.  I will also be spending the time with my grandkids showing them all the possibilities, limited only by their imagination, of a gift for someone special.  All of us can "give" of ourselves in one form or another, and one of my ways is crafts.  So, this day will be a profitable one for sure....money in my pocket, and teaching for my soul.  A good day for sure.....

Here are this weeks Gifts ~ 2 wonderful contributors to our community:

Gift #1-  is someone who every week has added value to the e-PRO Group by her wonderful Posts on Technology and Photography.  I am always amazed at the quality of these posts, and want to thank CJ also known as Cheryl Johnson for her wonderful, easy to understand contributions.  She gives and gives every week.  So Thank you CJ for being such a valued member of the e-PRO Group, and all of Active Rain.

Gift #2-   Cynthia Thilgman is another giving member of our community.  She has given so many positive messages throughout the Rain, that I cannot keep up with her.  I know that she has been doing a lot of localism posts for Military Relocation's in Onslow County, NC. But besides these she writes for Members. Last Christmas Cynthia shared some great gift ideas, and she is consistently supporting others.  I hope everyone goes to  her  Blog if you haven't already.....she truly is a gift.  Thanks Cynthia for everything you give to us, and for all the Positive messages.  Hope you have a great "balanced" summer :)

And just as a fun bonus here is an added gift this weekThe House Test

Now, I hope each of you finds something that benefits you not just today, but every day this week....

Kathy, Good luck with the closing. Thanks for the post. I enjoy reading Cynthia's posts. When I think on NC I think of Onslow County. and Cynthia. I do not know all the counties in Pa. but know of Onslow County.

Kathy, you are so right about the homemade gifts.  My birthday is this week.  Last year my wife wrote me a poem on a simple sheet of yellow legal paper.  It's been hanging next to my desk all year.  I've asked her to read it to me again this week on my birthday.

I have learned so much for Cheryl, or perhaps I should say "hope to". I have so many of her posts bookmarked, she is a wealth of information. Cynthia is a real gem too, glad she took some time with her family.

Kathy, I love hand made gifts, to me that means they really do come from the heart.  And you've chosen two WONDERFUL activerainers on here to give a special mention to, I have been subscribed and reading both since I signed on!  They are BOTH wonderful people who always "pay it forward."  Thank you for your Monday Morning Gifts to all of us.

Ronald- Thanks....

Cynthia-I hope people find your blog that have not done so already....especially your Members Only Posts, unless of course they want to relocate or refer someone to Onslow County, NC :)  I think I can even tell you the words you used in comments on your great seafood recipes.....and those bottle gifts.  Yes, I believe you are a true asset here, and I am so happy that you are one of the original blogs that I read, and still do :)

Linda-I know Cynthia, but I do not know CJ.  I just see her all the time in the e-PRO Group, and I feature every Post of hers pretty much because of the value they give to others.  don't feel bad, some of hers I have no idea what they are, but they sure look good LOL :)  Now Cynthia on the other hand......I love her positive attitude, and how she has gone to the next level with her Military Relocation's.  I love how she is family oriented, yet gives to this community as well, and I love that she reads my Posts LOL :)

BTW (what does this mean anyway????)  I am glad you got the notification.  Did you see Sally's dog Shadow on there?  She did a post on pet quarantine, and within an hour 2 different sites had picked up her article, and she also had a real person comment.....now that is some good SEO stuff :)

Gita- Isn't that the truth?  We might not know some of the Counties or towns in our own State, but we can refer people all over the US :)  You have good taste.....

Brian-That comment on the Birthday Poem said more about you to me than all your blog posts put together.  Happy Birthday, and I wish you another wonderful year both professionally and personally.

Missy-I too have quite a few of Cheryl's Posts bookmarked.  I want to learn layers in Photoshop, and she has great tutorials....I just need to make the time.  And as to Cynthia....absolutely it is great she took time off, now if she can just keep that balance :)

Carole-Ahh....I should have known you read both of them. I really wanted to say thank you to Cheryl, publicly, for everything she does for our Group.  As for Cynthia....I think she knows that I admire her a lot, and enjoy her contributions.  As you said both are wonderful :)

Linda- I thought that's what it ment but wasn't sure :)  You're right a whole new generation, and a whole bunch of acronyms to learn.  I know a few but that's it.  thanks for the clarification....have a good day....does that have an acronym?

Took that house test, thanks for sharing.  It said: You consider yourself important, but no more important than anyone else. You love attention, but you don't feel like you deserve more of it than anyone else.

You aren't against being community oriented, but it's not really your thing. You tend to prefer to focus on your family and not the neighborhood around you.

You are a social, friendly, and giving person. You like to bring people together and make them feel happy.

You look good in a low maintenance sort of way. You do the minimum required to be attractive.

You are moved by romance and love. You are optimistic about people, and you love hearing about happy endings.

I hope you got a happy ending with your closing!!!

Hi Kathy -The e-PRO group was given a gift when you came on board to take over.  I think you're fabulous!  Congrats on your closing, those overdue ones seem even more enjoyable, no doubt due to the extra effort getting everyone to the closing table.  It's interesting the different terminology used across the country.  You say record which, I'm deducing, is equal to our closing.

Morning Kathy, re "Think about the Dad that made it to all his sons games.....don't you think that child will remember?"... Absolutely, even tho it was many, many years ago I can remember fishing trips with my dad as if they happened yesterday. It wasn't so much about the vacation but the time we spent together, just the guys. Great memories!

Lesley- Sounds like your HOUSE Test was an intriguing one :)  We did close today, thank you.

Gail-You are so right about the overdue one being so sweet.  And again the words might be different....we are never closed until after the paperwork goes to the county recorder to be recorded.  So it is officially closed after we get confirmation of recording.....which I got today at 1pm :) :)  One more for the books :)

marti-Absolutely.....I even remember going with my Grandmother grunion hunting in the middle of the night when we lived in Malibu.  And I remember her teaching me to braid, read, and learning math with her.......those types of memories stay with us.  The toy I was given at a certain age....I have no idea.  Your trips with your dad are the same....time together, and do you remember if you caught any fish LOL :)
