Yes, I did steal this Aesop quote from one of our friends within the ActiveRain Community, but I will address that in a bit.
About a week ago, I entered our monthly challenge and wrote a bit about my family, Ray Henson and Family. I relayed a few stories about my family and, in particular, this one about my mom. I was having a bad day and it was one of the very rare days that I was in trouble. My mom decided to get the wooden spoon. As many of you know who saw that post, I RAN! So did my mom! After chasing me for more that a few blocks, my mom realized how funny the situation was and started laughing. It was one of the rare times that I was spared the rod. I did keep my distance that day, though. My mom can be tricky. 🤣
I also recently shared a post from my friend, Kathy Streib, Random Acts of Kindness Day. And yes, this is where I stole the Aesop Quote, "No Act of Kindness, no matter how small, is wasted." Somehow, I do not think Kathy will mind, given her nature.
How are these to seemingly disparate acts related?
Kathy's time at ActiveRain is filled with random acts of kindness. She has been busy, just ask Endre Barath, Jr. He just received an excellent looking cook book, United Tastes of Texas, from Kathy. I was also recognized with a random act of kindness from our mutual friend. Look what came in the mail!
At least, I think it is a random act of kindness. Maybe this spoon was not meant for cooking. It is a true multitasker after all. 🤣
Actually, it made me feel very special and this is the reason Kathy's posts mean so much, because she makes a point to do what she recommends. Every single time I use my new wooden spoon, I will have a smile on my face and that is the true value of the gift. I also know my mom will get a big kick out of this story when I share it with her.
Thank you, Kathy. I feel fortunate to know you.
BTW-This wooden spoon will be used only for peaceful purposes. If I do decide to re-gift this to my mom, she still can't catch me! 😇
Now, go make somebody smile!
