Supreme Sacrifice Day acknowledges the ultimate sacrifice made by certain altruistic people to benefit the good of others.
The Bible says in John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, while we were yet sinners, so that anyone who believes in Christ, asks for forgiveness and accepts Jesus in one's heart will join Him in eternal life in heaven.
Soldiers in battle gave their lives to protect American Freedom, keep us safe, and preserve the democratic way of life.
First responders, such as firefighters and police officers have given their lives while protecting and/or saving others.
Right now, volunteers with Christian organizations including YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and Samaritan's Purse are willingly putting themselves in harms' way to help Ukrainians escape from Russia's war efforts against them.
Around the world, medical personnel remain in the line of fire of Coronavirus-19. Sadly, some who are working so hard to help people with COVID-19 will end up sick themselves from it, and a contingent will lose their lives.
All of these people are worthy of our gratitude and thanks.
