Monday Musings & Inspiration: More Compassion, Please!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Our mastermind yesterday morning, focused on compassion, as opposed to kindness. Compassion is understanding that we are all interconnected.  Kindness is action oriented and is generated from the feeling of compassion.

Our discussion was brought about because we had heard and read of people who are presuming that all things Russian past and present are evil and should be censored and stopped.

This is happening in our country, and in Canada in the name of political correctness.  How insane is that?

The Swan Lake Ballet can no longer be performed because it was written by a Russian?  Russian art should be removed from the museums?

Books written by Dostoevsky or Tolstoy should be censored?  Never mind, that they are considered some of the greatest writers in the world!

These actions are not going to end the conflict of war between Russia and the Ukraine.  They just emphasize the lack of compassion and understanding that we as the onlookers have.

It has nothing to do with damning someone's culture and art!  That is not a solution to ending a war.

"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."

~Dalai Lama

“One can overcome the forces of negative emotions, like anger and hatred, by cultivating their counter forces, like love and compassion.”

~Dalai Lama

"Compassion is the desire that moves the individual self to widen the scope of its self-concern to embrace the whole of the universal self."

~ Arnold Toynbee

“True compassion does not come from wanting to help out those less fortunate than ourselves but from realizing our kinship with all beings.”

~Pema Chödrön

“Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

~Albert Einstein

We wish you all a wonderful Monday!

I am absolutely on the same page as you Ron and Alexandra Seigel and Nina Hollander, Broker . The first image that brought a tear to my eye was of two dead Russian soldiers lying on the road. Those were somebody's children lying there, sent by a madman who could care less how many of children of Russia are killed during his quest for conquest.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... I see all these displaced persons, especially the elderly, and I just start crying. Having been born in a displaced person's camp myself, it hits very close to home for me.

How I see it: we are doing to Russia what we are now doing to everyone and everything we do not agree with. Cancel them. It is wrong! You do not change minds by simply telling them "you are evil, therefore you do not deserve a voice" You lead by example, not force.

The cancel culture is very happy right now because they started something that non-compassionate people will go along with no matter the results. It is a shame but America needs to stop allowing the madness that is happening here as well!

Praying for the people who have no choice or voice in what is taking place because of a true lack of leadership...censorship has made it's way to us as well. God bless us!

Ron and Alexandra- this is yet another example of the dumbing down of society. We rely on talking heads who read the news to tell us what to think. The behind-the-scenes manipulators want it that way because people who don't think for themselves are easier to control.

What you mentioned is too close to what happened in Germany. How can we forget?!

I've mentioned this before but my mother and her sister had to carry cards saying they were Chinese and not Japanese during WWII...this while my father and uncle were fighting for our country.

When you add to that the fact that we have all been divided by the pandemic, you can see why this is going on.

We need to bring back compassion for others...to open our hearts and minds to what others are going through.

Kathy Streib I thought of you  as I was writing this post. I remembered you were showing your  ID's to prove you were not Japanese.  I agree with you and the effect of the pandemic.  I have found that more people want to talk, want to share, and want to remember what makes them human.

Social media has not helped the cause at all with their censorship, and now relaxing it when it comes to the Russians.  Who are these people that they get to rule?  And we need to realize that like or not we are connected regardless of distance, ideology and all that other nonsense that is being forced on  us.  A

Oh Alexandra don't get me started, I am so glad my parents are not alive to see this... my father hated Putin 30 years ago.... and sadly he loved Tolstoy, Tchaikovsky and the list goes on and on.. he introduced me to these great artists  to name a few....  politicians are the evil ones and sadly since the late 1960's Communist Russia influenced the US News Media and even more sadly the teachers of this country....hence here we are the average citizen is influenced by the bad information they receive both from the media and the teachers...but that is just my two cents...Endre

Alexandra, I ditto your thought and other comments on your post. I agreed with most comments regarding both sides. I have experienced the "hatred" because I am an immigrant speaking English with an accent, and I have learned to distance myself from ignorance. I can't change the world tomorrow, but I can do something today to help those in need.

According to the census, my state, WA, has the largest Ukrainian population in the US after CA and NY. We have signed up to offer free rooms in one of our rental homes for Ukrainian refugees to stay in. Many activities are going on in our neighboring cities, helping and contributing to the good cause.
