People continue discovering that baking soda has a lot of cleaning benefits. Aside from being a non-toxic cleaning ingredient, baking soda contains alkali that can dissolve dirt when combined with water.

One of the most prominent viral videos about the beneficial use of baking soda for cleaning is whitening the teeth. A lot of people saw that video and tried it themselves. Moreover, baking soda can also get rid of odors, just like dirt or odor to an upholstery.

The couch is primarily the place where people in a household relax. Families usually bond on the couch while watching television or movies in a household. But, the couch is often the furniture that was neglected to clean. So, there is a high chance of dirt and odor build-up over time.

If cleaning the couch is your problem, check out these four essential tips on how to clean the upholstery of your couch using baking soda:

  • Prepare your Materials

Separate the cushions. Get your baking soda, some clothes, and your vacuum cleaner. Get rid first of the dust on your couch. Check all the couch’s edges if there are stuck on them.

  • Start Applying Baking Soda

The next thing to do is to get your baking soda. Pour a thin layer into the couch. Let it sit for about fifteen to twenty minutes before vacuuming. After that, vacuum up the thin layer you sprinkled with a cloth attached to it. Ensure that the baking soda you applied is a thin layer and completely dry to avoid clogging your vacuum.

  • Spot Clean Your Couch

Sometimes, using the dry method won’t clean the couch’s stains. You can use water and a little dish soap combined with baking soda for more effective cleaning of stains. But before using the wet formula, do a spot test on your couch to know if the formula will damage the fabric.

If you saw that your couch could resist the wet formula, spray a tiny amount of the baking soda to the particular stained part.

  • Let Your Couch Dry

After doing all the steps, allow your couch to dry up before using it again. Make sure the stains are completely gone before putting on the cushions.

After cleaning the upholstery, remember to do this again whenever you need a couch cleaning for a cleaner and more excellent watching experience.
