Friday Photo 2: Broom Season is Here!

We have been noticing the appearance of  sweet broom pictured in landscaping around town.  And it is prominent on the road to the wine country.  It really is a nice contrast to the blue sage that is also showing up.

We are also seeing it bloom on the freeway along with the mustard seed plants.  We are loving the color explosion, and it is a perfect bright spot on a dense foggy day.

Happy Friday

Wishing Everyone a Grand Weekend!

Just the right type of color and flower to bring on the hay fever as well.

How beautiful! I didn't realize there was a plant called "broom" - before I read this, I thought those flowers might provide some sort of dust that needed to be swept. haha.

So pretty, Alexandra... wish we had sweet broom lining our highways! Don't know that I've ever seen it in the East and don't remember it from when I lived in California.

Broom -- Never heard of this before this post, but it sure is beautiful and to have it line the highways -- awesome!  Here in the midwest we still see "nothing" pretty ... a few more weeks before we see life ... like Easter!

We see these in our area, too. I love the flowers that are blooming at this time of year.

A few years ago I was shopping with a friend and bought a plant called Midnight Broom. She was horrified. Where she came from it was called Witches Broom and it was an invasive plant. When it outgrew its space we tried to pull it out, but it grew right back!

We have no blooms here, but are happy that warm weather this past week has taken the bulk of the snow - and is drying the mud in our driveways.
