Flip Video Mino - My new Techy Toy for the Gadget Gal(GG)

I am so excited I can't stand it! Yes, I'm a "techy geek" and I just love being on the cutting edge. Two weeks ago I attended the CRS 206 Technology Course and I just had to have the Flip Video. Our instructor, Mike Selvaggio, did a quick demo and it was love at first sight!! The Flip Video seems incredibly simple and easy to use and takes up to 60 minutes of videos. So, I ordered one the same day I got back from the class. CNET has a gadget blog where they posted a slideshow on the Flip Mino unveiling which I thought I'd share with those who might be interested.

The Fedex guy came to my house on Thursday with my new Flip Mino Video and I wasn't home -Imagine that (they require a signature for delivery).!! Then I had to head out of town to Pinehurst for the State Tennis Tournament. So, I have to pick up my Flip Video tomorrow at the FedEx office in Durham.

In route to picking up my new "techy toy" I thought I'd pull up a few tutorials on the Flip Video and share the Best of Active Rain FlipVideo blogs for your reference. Actualy, Brad Andersohn's Flip Video series says it all. You can find his series here:

The MSRP on the flip video is $129.95. The new Mino's SRP is $179.95. If you go to Nexttag you can compare prices and find a pretty good deal. This device is SO NEW but really catching on because its so simple and easy to use...

Dan - I'll go crazy with the video just like I do everything else. I think I'll debut my listings and "polish" my "stick" before I hit the air. It's all in the marketing message so I have to get it right.

Tracy - Congrats on your recent Flip purchase. I have been using the F260W for about a year and it is super simple to use and the size is so small you can always have it with you wherever you go.

You may want to pick up this $7.99 Tripod from Radio Shack while you're at it. I've been told that it really improves the quality of your video(s).

Tracy - I can't wait to hear (and see) how you like it. They are waaaay cool.

Tracy - I just used mine recently for business for the first time with an out of town buyer. They needed to see some new listiings fast but they were 2000 miles away. I will be using it more as well as the reception was great.

I hope your flip has a machined hole in the bottom for a tripod. Mine does not. I am planning to pick up that radio shack tripod and "make" me something to be able to set my flip on that tripod. Congrats on the Activerain feature!

Tracy, You are a girl after my own heart! I just made my very first video with my flip camera. Aren't these the best creation yet? Thanks for posting the articles. I am a "do it first, learn later person" and could use the help, for sure!

The newer models do have the whole at the bottom so I'm in luck. I just finished taking my 1st shots. I've got a long way to go but I should have my first video up by the end of the week. At least that is my goal.

I've been interested in Flips for a while but won't have the need for one until my current digital camera (with video) stops working. But it is a great-looking gadget and I know you'll have fun with it!

Tracy, congratulations! This toy is sooooo much fun. I got mine awhile back, but only recently (yesterday) posted a video tour of a home on AR.....not too hard at all...just have to walk like you have a book on your head. ;-)

I got one the other day and am having so much fun with it!

THANKS for organizing all this info - I got my FLIP about a month ago and honestly, the kids took it and haven't seen it since I attempted to make the first vid. I've bookmarked this post to come back again.

Tracey~ I bought a flip video a few months ago and did a video pf my grandsons birth, but I can't figure out HOW to put the footage on a DVD for his mom!!! Any ideas?

Good for you Tracy, as you well know, Realtor Magazine this month had Video as the main topic of the magazine on the front cover. Thanks for sharing your knowledge because it does appear videoing is makeing a big impact on society. It was nice talking to you today and I hope you reap huge dividends from all of your efforts.

Judy- I've got to "polish" my technique but I should have something up and running by the end of the week. Today I interviewed all of the agents in the office.

I'm dying to get one of these, but sure wish the viewer was bigger. That's the only thing holding me back! Anyone have a problem with this?

Margaret, with a Tripod, and the ease of use this device can't be beat. However, Realtors have a tendancy to make things as simple as possible rather than creating a truly professional "image". It may take me a couple of weeks to perfect that and once I do I'll be the first to sing out to the AR community about how to creat "professional grade" videos.

I've got the Flip and the tripod, and am hoping this long weekend will give me some time to play with video and catch up on all of the video tip posts here in the Rain. The early adapters will have a huge advantage by the time the rest of the real estate industry decides that video can be great for marketing and communication.

Oh No another gadget I might have to buy! This looks really good...have to bookmark it so I can read it when I'm awake.

Darn, I bought a Flip Ultra a few months ago and now they come out with a new and improved version. I hate when that happens.

Tracy- I've had my Mino for a few weeks now and love it. There was a mention of a $8 tripod from radio shack that looks alot more portable than the one I have. I will have to say that my attempts at videoing a home is pathetic. But I like working on it.

Glad I'm not the only one. I did my practice video and thought I'd be a pro "off the bat". Boy was I wrong. I refuse to post something "amateur" but you will see my videos - it may be a couple of weeks from now instead of a couple of days.

I have played around with the Flip Ultra and have several posts on my AR blog. Flip is a great solution if that is the only video camera you have, however I believe that if you have a MiniDV tape camcorder (as many of us parents already do), that a good camcorder with the digital tape is better for self produced listing videos.

For video blogging, I love the FLIP! My listings and other community projects will b produced with my MiniDV camcorder.

Embed some of your videos as soon as you get them uploaded.

I have a little cheap version of the video camera. It cost about $100 at Walgreens and it works great! I use it to video tape my listings and upload them to Realtor.com

I got mine today! I'm so excited about using it.

I just ordered my own & I'm chomping at the bit waiting for it to arrive!

My office caught onto this concept & I'm proud to say is the first in our area to introduce this new marketing idea! Since I'm impatient & don't want to wait till one of the 3 becomes available to try, I just ordered my own on Amazon.

I'll play with it & let you know how user friendly it is....after all, I am computer/techno challenged!

I'm working on a video post based on some pictures that I'm going to merge together, add music, etc on my area. I think it will send a powerful message. I'm also working on embedding these into my profile. It's really progressive thinking!

enjoyed your post on your flip mino, I just purchased the ultra flip 60min from Circuit City since they were going out of business they were 30% off. I purchased two one for myself and one for my mother. Can't wait to take my first video with it!
