Roe v Wade & LGBTQIA Realtors & Clients

For many years I have blogged about how LGBTQIA rights hung by 5/4 court decisions predicated on the rights of the 14th Amendment.

I have been asking that REALTOR PACs, especially TREPAC (Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee), abide by Article 10 of the Code of Ethics when deciding whom to endorse.  Don't endorse bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist candidates.  Insist that the people we back believe how we believe.  Otherwise, why are we giving them our backing?

I have been laughed at, blackballed, spoken to, spoken down to, ignored, and (they thought) contained.   They've had the "good gays" dog my posts and swear that there's no discrimination or need to worry.

Tonight we learned that I've been right the whole time.  Article 14 of the US Constitution is the law that was use in deciding Roe v Wade.  It is also the law used to decide Lawrence v Texas, reversing sodomy laws, and Obergefell v. Hodges, which established gay marriage equality. The former Texas Solicitor General, who wrote the law that Texas is using to overturn Roe, has already asked that the Supreme Court reverse  Lawrence v Texas and Obergefell v Hodges while deciding Roe.  You should also know that Loving v Virginia which overturned the ban on interracial marriage is also decided on the 14th Amendment.

Our PAC's have supported and funded with REALTOR dollars the candidates who wrote this law in Texas, who filed this case in Texas, and who are now advocating the LGBTQIA and women be treated as unequal under the law.  Our Associations have tried to silence discussion instead of listening, because this is just how things are done in Texas.

If gay marriage is reversed, LGBTQ people lose the property rights granted by marriage. I have always asserted that marriage is a property rights issue. I've been ignored the whole time.

If sodomy laws are enforced again, LGBTQ people are immediately illegal people.  Can people committing a crime hold a Texas Real Estate License?  How soon do you think it will be before Lt Gov Dan Patrick changes that and Gov Greg Abbott signs it?   If you admit you're gay (and thus committing a crime) it leads to housing discrimination, employment discrimination, and arrests.  This is a direct violation of Article 10 of the Code of Ethics.  (By the way, Texas Penal Code - PENAL § 21.06. Homosexual Conduct is still on the books. Even though it was unconstitutional, it was left there just in case a new court reversed the ruling.  Texas can immediately enforce the law.)

I've been lied to about the "friendly incumbent" rule.  I've been told PAC's don't get involved with "social issues".  But if you stand beside the abuser while ignoring the victim and doing nothing, you ARE making a choice.  You are involved.

At this point the damage is done.  I don't expect an apology or even to be noticed.  If history holds I will continue being ostracized and ignored while being absolutely correct.

Gee Bob, who is judging who is a "bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist candidate". ?

The actions of the candidates speak for themselves.

Excellent post, Bob. TREPAC shouldn't be endorsing candidates at all, regardless of their political beliefs.
