Happy Mother's Day

I'm not sure exactly why I find this photo/situation to be quite so sad on this mother's day.   A couple of days ago, this sweet little dog was found leashed securely to a fire hydrant in a community near Green Bay, Wisconsin along with a backpack filled with her favourite toys, food and a note explaining that her name was "Baby Girl", and that her owner, due to severe medical conditions, was no longer able to care for her.

She was left in a highly populated neighbourhood, in the hopes that she would be found and taken in... and that was indeed the case as a caring individual did find her, sat with her for a while, thinking that her owner might return, and when that didn't happen, contacted the Wisconsin Humane Society who picked up Baby Girl, and has taken her back to the shelter.

Baby Girl is being put through a series of exams, and will eventually be put up for adoption.  She is about 6-years-old, very affectionate, loves to please, knows how to "sit" for treats, and enjoys a good belly-rub (who doesn't?).

Happy Mother's Day y'all

Good morning Alan. Not sure "Baby Girl's" owner did what was best but do think Baby Girl will get a home she deserves. The situation make you ponder many things. Enjoy your day.

I guess it's preferable to neglecting or abusing the animal.

Good morning, Alan... this brought tears to my eyes. I suppose it's because I've been a pet mom most of my life and my dogs and cats have come from shelters. They are like my babies and I can't imagine abandoning them. To this day, I can remember with total clarity when and how each of my fur-babies took their last breath.

I know... you can just see the heartbreak in the poor dog's posture.

It is a sad picture, but it does look like it will end happily for that little, cute doggy.  Hopefully, owner number 3 will take great care her.

Alan- it breaks my heart to see this picture. I can't judge the person who left the dog there but I know that when we first moved to FL and wanted to rent first to get to know the area, I was told that we wouldn't be able to find a rental that would accept our 2 small dogs. She suggested we give them away. Larry had to hold me down because I was about to go for her jugular.

You might just as well tell a pet owner to "give away a child"...
