I am at the beach with 2 of my children (minus husband and oldest daughter who had work obligations). This is the perfect time for me to plow through some summer reading.
Usually while I am at the beach, I like to read several novels (which ideally do not require much of me and still allow me to glance up periodically to check on the kids in the ocean) and one more 'serious' book. I am not much for non-fiction in my down time, so they are almost always novels or biographies.
I just finished a novel that was PERFECT beach reading: The Practice of Deceit by Elizabeth Benedict. This book was quick & compelling which are two important characteristics in my definition of beach reading. I got it at the library, so I am not sure if it is out in paperback.
My serious book this time (maybe) is 1776 by David McCullough. I think I might start it this evening.
I would love to hear what you have planned for your summer vacation reading.
