AG Is Big In America and the World

I wanted to write this post after hearing agriculture and the same old "Population Bomb" drivel being blamed for the baby formula shortage. How absurd!

It makes me wonder what it takes to kill a lie that has been proven to be a lie over and over again. Nearly every nation on earth has seen large population declines while at the same time agriculture has made great strides and has produced more yield per acre then ever before.

This baby formula shortage is certainly an inconvenience BUT it can not be blamed on AG or a booming baby population.

Baby formula was introduce in 1867... makes you wonder what they did the first few thousand years prior.

100% of us eat, 2% of us farm. Farm to table, knowing where your food was grown and what it was or was not sprayed with is huge. Did not know the year baby formula started showing up on the Piggly Wiggly shelves either Bob "RealMan" Timm . Do you have a garden?

I like the comment from Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 and wish that our food system wasn't as poisoned as it is, we should be able to get "real" food that is grown by farmers.

Isn't that an amazing figure Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 , Only 2% of the population feed the 100%? Off the top of my head I do not remember the year baby formula showed up on the shelves of Piggly Wiggly or Red Owl but I did see that year mentioned before posting this morning and I know it surprised me. I will go back and look it up.

I have gardened since purchasing my first home in 1973. I love flower gardening more then vegetable gardening but my wife insists on veggies. I am really eager to get this years garden in but I blogged yesterday that it was snowing and that freezing temps were forecast for the past two nights (and achieved). This year I hope to do an even ballance of flowers and food.

Good morning Roy. The source of the problem is our government! They want to help us by making it tough. They believe in tough love I guess. Maybe someday they will get it right? Don't hold your breath! Enjoy your day.

Honestly, I don't pay much attention as to what happens with the food processing system BUT I agree that organic is/would be better Brian England and Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 . People show that preference in strong numbers by shopping the Farmers Markets.

Hi Bob... the entire situation is totally idiotic and should never have happened. We look like idiots on the world stage. How does this even happen in a country like ours in the 21st century?

Hey Wayne Martin . Isn't it funny how often that there is a problem Government has caused it or made it worse? I do think we are starting to see a groundswell of "enough is enough" and we will see improvement... hopefully without a civil war.

Nina Hollander, Broker I think Wayne Martin summed it up pretty well and YES we are looking like idiots from the top down politically.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm - this yet another example of "we are here from the government and we are here to help you" NOT

Good stuff Bob. Great fun facts too.

I do empathize with the moms, but I neither have a baby nor know anyone with one currently, so I could care-less about the distraction of this shortage or the debate over it. It's a devil's distraction and I'm remaining focused.  Breast feeding is always an option, it's how I was nourished/raised as an infant. I tend to let the non-essential bad news roll off my back so as to not get weighted down by the 24/7 bad news and lies the media regurgitates. That may not be a popular position, but then again, I'm not listening to my critics anyhow LOL.

We may get in on the HOT weather soon Roy Kelley as the forecast shows an increase every day each of the next 7 days of our long range forecast. Looks like in the low 80's a week from today.

I have always loved that saying Grant Schneider and it holds true of every level of government.

Hi Bob- Larry's family owns farm land that we lease to a farmer. It would be nice if everyone could afford to shop organic at Whole Foods or the Farmer's markets but that gets very expensive.

And to Nina Hollander, Broker point about the US looking like fools to the rest of the world...that ship sailed a few years ago.

I agree Kathy Streib about the expense of shopping local and organic PLUS there are some crazed old ladies that start swinging if you get with-in elbow distance of them at the Farmers market.

In regards to your note to Nina Hollander, Broker I think the exact date was January 20, 2021.
