On Saturday I wrote about Joe Smith in Nebraska and how, in the middle of dealing with tornado damage and concern for his family, he took the time to let me know why I didn't have email! Today I got an update and some photos. Fortunately, the damage to his home is repairable, though they have quite a mess to clean up.
Amid the damage was a precious example of new life and the ability of nature's creatures to survive. Joe had taken photos to document hail damage, and one of the shots showed a bird's next up under the eaves. When he went back the next day…there were three baby birds in the nest! Somehow, with all the wind and hail, that nest had protected them. Those marks on the siding are from golf sized hail!
The Smith family is settled back in and cleaning up, thankful for all the thoughts and prayers sent their way. And I'm thankful to have my email back…even though it meant more than 650 messages to go through!
