Brain Stuff

I was reading a few little blurbs in AARP, The Magazine, April/May 2022 about brain health and I wanted to pass on a little of the knowledge that impressed me (especially the stuff I am already doing).

#1) You are going to love this one. Become active on social media channels that are relevant to your career.

#2) What is the number one thing I can do to help prevent dementia? Be in bed by 10 p.m. The earlier you get to sleep the more slow wave sleep you'll get. SWS peters out around 1:00 a.m..

That is all I am going to share for now except that now I have to look up what the heck is "slow wave sleep" and why you can only get it before 1:00 a.m..

I have those two all set! I think I read something once that the first part of your sleep focuses on brain healthy and the second half of your sleep on your body. Or maybe it was the other way around. I don't know but I'm usually asleep at 10.

Thanks for starting my day with a LOL Endre Barath, Jr. as I agree on both accounts. I will say however that AARP has gotten much less (out right) political in the past couple of years.

Me too Kat Palmiotti which is why I highlighted those two. I still have not looked it up but I think you had it right the first time (brain then body).

Good morning Bob. Like you, no clue, about "slow wave sleep" and not sure I care. Whatever I have been doing has worked for 70 plus years without research. Sounds like Endre Barath, Jr. and I are on the same page. Enjoy your day.

I have been told that I qualify to get AARP next year, haha.  It sounds like there are some good benefits that come with it.

I had put it off for several years Brian England because their political views were so far left and they were very vocal about it as well all actively pushing far left legislation.

It is my opinion that they must have realized how bad it was hurting their membership. Now reading their material they seem to be avoiding political issues and I do find some good advice in both the magazine and the quarterly flyer they put out.

Hi Bob... since I'm naturally awake between 4 and 5 am, I'm always ready to go to sleep by 10pm. As for being active on social media... no way... the day I retire is the day I'm off the social media... all I see is my retired high school and college friends posting inanities.

Nina Hollander, Broker this (Active Rain) is my only social media and I hope you don't disappear from here. When it comes to FB you are spot on.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... I don't think of Active Rain as social media. But I suspect once I retire I'll move away from as many things that keep me on a computer as possible.

I learned from that article that my sleep pattern is all wrong.  Yet, I seem to be able to recall things that others my age can't.  Of course, my young adult years were in the 1960s.  They say anyone who lived the 60s, can't remember them.  I know one thing for certain, I'm sorry I missed Woodstock!

Thanks for my morning LOL Myrl Jeffcoat as I too which I would have made Woodstock... just to be part of history. My favorite band before and during Woodstock was Country Joe and the Fish. They made a fu__king splash at Woodstock (by using that word in their song "I feel like I'm fixing to die". I googled Joe McDonald last month and I was really disappointed in his political path later through life.
